WHO WE ARE
At High Plains Steel Services, LLC, we are a group of seasoned steel construction professionals who have come together to create a service-oriented steel construction company with a simple goal; to provide A Quality Product, On Time.
After decades in the industry, we have come to understand that what customers want from a steel contractor is simple; a single call to a steel contractor they can trust to provide turn-key steel projects, no matter the size, complexity, or difficulty with confidence that the job will be done well and on time.
We combine decades of experience, financial strength, the right facilities and equipment, leading edge technology and a passion for learning and training to be the trusted provider of Structural and Miscellaneous Steel & Coatings.
OUR HISTORY
Founded in March 2012 by Jon and Jason McLean, High Plains Steel Services, LLC was built on more than 65 years of combined construction and structural steel experience. We began by providing structural steel and miscellaneous metals erection, along with on-site fabrication, repair, and mining equipment services for the aggregate industry.
In 2016, following Jon McLean’s retirement, Kris McLean joined as President & CEO, leading High Plains through a period of significant growth. Under his leadership, we expanded into full-service structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication, industrial coatings, and invested in a fleet of company-owned cranes and equipment to strengthen our turnkey capabilities.
High Plains continued to grow in 2017 when Brian Snider joined the company. He became a partner in 2018 and today leads our fabrication operations. In 2022, Mike Hurst became a partner after years of leading our erection operations.
We established our permanent home in Windsor, Colorado, in 2019 and, in 2020, earned multiple American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) certifications, including Certified Building Fabricator, Sophisticated Paint Endorsement (SPE-P1), Certified Steel Erector (Advanced), and Metal Deck Erection (MEE).
Since 2021, we have invested heavily in advanced, automated fabrication equipment, paperless production technology, and company-owned transportation and field equipment, allowing us to deliver projects more efficiently, accurately, and safely.
In 2026, we became a signatory contractor with Ironworkers Local 24, further strengthening our commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and a highly skilled workforce.
Today, we combine an experienced team, industry-leading technology, and company-owned facilities and equipment to provide turnkey structural steel solutions throughout the region. Our commitment remains simple: A Quality Product, On Time.
