Kris McLean, President

Kris brings over 18 years of steel business ownership and proactive executive leadership to the team at High Plains Steel Service (HPSS). His background is in large AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) certified projects consisting of design build, design assist and traditional competitive bid projects including the 3,000 tons of design/build steel for the new Denver Transit Partners Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility. Kris also has extensive experience in architectural metals, stairs and rails; completing projects such as the design assist project at Denver International Airport Parking Garage Stair Replacement consisting of 32 new stair cores up to 8 stories in height. As well as the design build project of all stair systems, consisting of 42 separate stair cores up to 12 stories in height at the new VA Clinic in Denver.

Kris’ executive background includes building and leading a previous steel fabrication and erection company to revenues exceeding $20m annually before selling that Company in 2014. Kris has extensive experience in conceptual estimating and design/build development as well as project planning, management and execution.

Today, Kris has involvement in every project assuring that HPSS is bringing the knowledge and experience of he and his teams large scale difficult project fabrication and erection experience to expertly service every project regardless of the size.

Brian Snider, Director of Sales and Project Management

Brian brings over 18 years of steel management experience to the team at HPSS. Brian began his career in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft inspector and transitioned into steel construction immediately out of the Service. Brian’s background consists of developing and implementing three AISC Programs and managing large AISC Certified Fabricators in the positions of Shop Manager, Project Manager, VP of Operations, and General Manager.

Brian’s background includes managing and producing large scale structural and miscellaneous steel projects up to 3,000 Tons from the shop floor to the executive office. Brian’s customer first attitude and tenacious drive for excellence is the force behind High Plains Steel Services commitment to providing a quality product, on time!

Jason McLean, Operations Manager – Erection Division

Jason pioneered HPSS in March of 2012 after nearly 20 years in the construction industry. Jason is an experienced concrete foundation foreman, General Contractor Superintendent, and Journeyman Ironworker. Jason and has previously managed an erection division of over 50 ironworkers which erected multi-story structures in difficult mountain area, military bases and highly condensed urban areas. He has extensive safety training and is a certified Fork and Aerial lift Operator Trainer.

Jason’s attention to detail, overall construction experience and customer service first attitude has been the impetus behind the stellar customer service that HPSS provides today. He visits every project several times a week, working with the contractor to get ready for steel erection, and then working with our crews and the entire construction team during erection to ensure all projects are performed in a safe, clean, and productive manner.

Jamie Weiss, Operations Manager – Fabrication Division

Jamie Weiss brings nearly three decades of steel fabrication experience to HPSS. He has worked from the fabrication floor up to Operations Manger holding positions such as Fabrication Lead, Production Supervisor, Production Manager and Quality Assurance Manager. He has a significant background in fabricating projects to ASME, AISC and AWS standards and a vast knowledge and experience in welding and is an accomplished Certified Welding Inspector for the American Welding Society.

In addition to welding and fabrication, Jamie is also experienced in estimating, material takeoff, design assist, value engineering, leadership, mentoring, coaching, operations, project management, production management and team building. Some of the projects that Jamie has worked on are the new DaVita World Headquarters, The Arrabelle at Vail Square, Denver Art Museum – Frederic C. Hamilton, and the Denver International Airport parking canopies.

Jamie leads a nimble and highly capable Fabrication Division at HPSS today dedicated to being problem solvers and ensuring that customers receive products with consistent from time of first customer contact to steel delivery.

Cole Nelson, Operations Manager – High Plains Industrial Coatings

Cole entered the world of polyurea based industrial coatings while completing his degree at Colorado State University. After graduating Cole immediately dove into the next level of polyurea coatings by tackling projects ranging from extreme pipe restoration to chemical and wear resistant coatings for CDOT. At High Plains Industrial Coatings Cole combines his extensive hands on experience with training from the polyurea experts at Versaflex to provide our customers with experienced based solutions.

Day to day Cole can be found on site ensuring that we are providing an extremely high quality product and working with customers to meet and exceed their needs. Whether its polyurethane spray foam, abrasion resistant linings, cosmetic coatings, or bedliners, Cole has the experience and knowledge to provide a quality product that will out perform expectations.
